Welcome To The Jungle!

We love to welcome you to the jungle but EcoTravel is a small family business in high demand. We will do our best to respond as quickly as possible and answer your questions or take your bookings – but please allow up to 3 working days for our reply.

Unlike other providers in Bukit Lawang, our sustainable jungle treks and selected Sumatra tours focus on quality and safety rather than quantity. For the safety of our guests we are working with a regular team on a steady basis. All team members are locals from this region, our guides are certified by the local ITGA-HPI and have excellent knowledge of plants and animals in the rainforest.

EcoTravel tours are limited in size and number due to environmental issues. So please contact us well in advance of your arrival. For a booking inquiry, please fill in the form below. To simplify the process, please be aware of the following:

We offer tours for small groups of up to 8 EcoTravel guests but no private tours!
Tours or accommodation cannot be reserved separately, as we only offer our well selected Sumatra packages.
Prices as published on our website are based on a minimum of 2 persons, group prices are usually lower.
Single travellers will be charged on a basis of 2 people. However, if you are travelling alone and we are able to arrange a group tour on the day of arrival, our office team in Bukit Lawang will part refund the initial price.
All our Sumatra packages start and end on fixed weekdays. If you wish to add nights before or after the trip and add or change tours, of course this is possible to suit your individual needs – depending on availability! However, as we also run all our tours on fixed days, the sequence of tours cannot be altered.

Before starting your jungle adventure, please read this useful information:

We really recommend arriving in Bukit Lawang no later than 18:00 pm! Between 16:00 pm and 19:00 pm there will be a meeting with your guide team in our EcoTravel Cottages for some important information and an introduction to your jungle trek or to your day tour around Bukit Lawang starting the following morning. During our special “Meet & Relax Happy Hour” you will meet other EcoTravel guests and our team will answer all your questions. This social gathering, a nice warm up for the next day, is not to be missed!

Our deluxe, superior and standard package options include transfers: we are pleased to organize hotel transfer (3 hours) from/to any hotel of your choice in Medan. If direct airport transfer (4,5 hours) is required please note that your flight should arrive at Medan airport before 15:00 pm. If you require return transfer from Bukit Lawang to KNO airport, your flight should depart after 14:00 pm.

In Bukit Lawang there are no ATM machines! Please make sure you have enough cash with you! As an exclusive service to our guests we also change Euros and offer credit card payment (Mastercard and Visa / 3% charge) in our EcoTravel office.

We are happy to provide vegetarian, vegan or non-allergic meals on jungle treks if required.
