Before starting your jungle adventure, please read this useful information:
We really recommend arriving in Bukit Lawang no later than 18:00 pm! Between 16:00 pm and 19:00 pm there will be a meeting with your guide team in our EcoTravel Cottages for some important information and an introduction to your jungle trek or to your day tour around Bukit Lawang starting the following morning. During our special “Meet & Relax Happy Hour” you will meet other EcoTravel guests and our team will answer all your questions. This social gathering, a nice warm up for the next day, is not to be missed!
If you would like to book our EcoTravel transfer service from Medan (hotel – 3 hours / airport – 4 hours) to Bukit Lawang (includes free porter service for your luggage to your accommodation), please note that your flight should arrive at Medan airport before 15:00 pm. For your transfer from Bukit Lawang back to Medan airport your flight departure should be after 13:00 pm. However, if no earlier flights to Sumatra are available and a late afternoon pick-up service with our EcoTravel team from Medan Airport to Bukit Lawang is required, we will be happy to organise this exclusively for you. But please note that you have to get up early the next day – and on arrival there will be a 25-minute walk from the taxi stop to EcoTravel Cottages. If you arrive late you may also have problems with dinner as most restaurants in Bukit Lawang close at 21:00 pm. However, if there is no other option than arriving late at KNO Airport in Medan, we would actually advise you to simply arrive a day earlier – and why not stay in an airport hotel before you start your jungle adventure? Our transfer service could arrange a relaxed pick up service from your hotel in Medan the next morning – and you could profit from another half day in Bukit Lawang and the jungle of Sumatra.
The safety of both our guests and staff remains our top priority. In order to prevent a virus infection in the best possible way, we have put in place all the necessary measures to welcome you and put your mind at ease. What we ask you to do, for everyone’s safety: Please wear your face mask on all transport vehicles without being asked. Wash your hands frequently and/or use our hand sanitizer dispensers at EcoTravel Cottages/The Hangout. Avoid touching your face: eyes, nose and mouth. Sneeze and cough into your elbow. Avoid handshakes and hugs. Keep physical distance to other guests, team members and animals. Follow the instructions of our EcoTravel team any time!
EcoTravel arranges individual Sumatra tours for small groups, but no private tours. Our guests will explore the jungle in a small group of up to 7 people only. The maximum group size for tours around Bukit Lawang and for transportation is 10 persons.
In Bukit Lawang there are no ATM machines! Please make sure you have enough cash with you! As an exclusive service to our guests we also change Euros and offer credit card payment (Mastercard and Visa / 3% charge) in our EcoTravel office.
All accommodation in our EcoTravel Cottages & The Hangout is reserved exclusively for our touring guests. We do not only rent rooms only.
